Creating and editing groups

All members of ArcGIS Online can create and manage groups.

Creating a group

To create a group:

  1. Open your My Groups page (you need to be signed in), and click Create Group. A window opens where you can enter a name, summary, description, contact information, tags, and upload an image.

  2. Choose if you want the group to be public (where users can search for and find the group), or private (where users cannot find the group and only you, the owner, can invite others to join). If you choose public, check or uncheck the box for allowing users to apply to join the group.
  3. Save or cancel your work when you are done.

Editing a group

To edit a group:

  1. Open your My Groups page (you need to be signed in), and click the name of the group you want to edit.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Update your group information as desired. You can update the name, summary, description, contact information, tags, or upload an image. You can also change the group to be public or private.
  4. Save or cancel your work when you are done.
